It may have headed off in a bit of a different direction as of late, with the toys-to-life LEGO Dimensions - but that isn't the only LEGO game in the works. In fact, a more traditional LEGO offering will be hitting shelves early next year, this time taking on Marvel's very own superhero adventure packed The Avengers (and other Marvel films...). Featuring storylines and characters from blockbuster Marvel Avengers, the kind-of disappointing sequel Marvel Avengers: Age of Ultron, along with levels and story sequences based on Iron Man 3, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Thor: The Dark World, and Captain America: The First Avengers, there's bound to be plenty of memorable scenes and Marvel goodness getting the plastic make-over in LEGO Marvel's Avengers.
If you've played a LEGO game before, then you'll likely already be aware of the intriguing proposition they offer, mixing drop-in, drop-out, accessible adventure gameplay with hundreds of little nods to the films they depict. Keeping both the young, and young at heart enthralled, some of our best experiences with games have come from LEGO games - and so the recently released trailer for LEGO Marvel has us very excited indeed.
This new addition will feature a stupendous roster of characters from the Marvel Avengers series with over 100 new and returning characters. From the comic book staples of Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, to the slightly stranger end of Marvel's output (like female Thor, or, er, Squirrel Girl), with each coming with their own moves and powers - and, for the first time in a LEGO game, team moves too. With a huge free roaming world to explore, alongside dozens of traditional story based levels - and hundreds of gold bricks to be collected - this has all the hallmarks of another classic LEGO masterpiece.

Due for release on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U and PC, LEGO Marvel's Avengers is set for release just the other side of Christmas, at the end of January. You can check out the game's reveal trailer below, which in itself features plenty of bad guy bashing action, a suitably dramatic voice-over, and a snippet of the touching relationship between Hulk and a small chicken. Funny, inventive, and packed full of co-op goodness, we have only one question - where's that Avengers theme?
